PhotobucketYou know how last week I planted stuff in the garden?

Well, it’s exactly a week later and the beans are starting to sprout.

I love green beans!  😆

They just make you feel like, well, all is well with the world.  🙂

PhotobucketI scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

Except this ice cream is fudge – I couldn’t decide, so we got one of each.

Chocolate.
Peanut butter.
Vanilla.
Chocolate AND peanut butter.

I do love peanut butter.  And chocolate.  And vanilla.  😳

PhotobucketPeeps and I went to the Air Show this weekend – I’ll tell you more about that later on this week if you’re interested.

We do love the air show – even if the star attraction is a Canadian team.  😯

It’s still the sound of freedom.

We LOVE the air show!

PhotobucketMr. Cardinal has been hanging around a lot lately – he’s mighty bold.  He hops around the yard . . . and the deck . . . and on the cars.  It’s almost like he owns the joint or something.  😯

He’s even brought his mate over to check us out.

We’ve started feeding them –  we put some sunflower seeds out for Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal – I understand that cardinals love sunflower seeds.  😀

PhotobucketWe’re going to have to come up with names for them if they keep hanging around, I think.

Right now, I’m thinking Dortmunder and May, though I’m not sure if “Dortmunder” fits a flashy cardinal, though “May” certainly fits his mate . . . any suggestions?

Photobucket

PhotobucketSpeaking of the cardinal family.  SOMEONE is not too happy about birds being welcomed onto HER deck.

Note the twitchy tail action . . .

I say SIUB – if you can’t protect your deck from avian marauders, that’s your problem.  Don’t come whining to me – cat up.  😯

Photobucket

PhotobucketRemember Awful Mad Kitty?

Yeah, well, now he’s One-Eyed Awful Mad Pirate Kitty.

Aaargh.

And the Puppster is still madly in love with him . . .   🙄

It’s just a shame that he keeps chewing through parts of the kitty . . . it doesn’t bode well for the day he and Stupor Kitty end up in the same room . . .  🙄

In case you were ever wondering, yes, there is such a thing as too much ravioli.

I’m just saying, that’s all.  🙄

What, we’re going to let them just throw it away?  😯

Photobucket

PhotobucketI do love my Christmas cactus – it’s so pretty when it’s in season and the pretty pink flowers are blossoming.

But MAN it does make a mess – dried up blossoms falling all over the place and sticking to the window and stuff.  🙄

What a  mess.  😦

Peeps’s mom finally did it.  She’s officially retired – her last day at the firm was last Friday.

This is for you, Peeps’s mom.

Now when are you moving?  😉

And it’s that time of the week again – time for the week’s menu plan.

Monday – Monday is the first Monday in June, which means Thursday Night Smackdown’s Hobo Monday event.  This month, the challenge is ULTRA MEGA CHEAP ASS – a meal for the two of us for $3 or less.  Tune in Tuesday to see what we come up with . . . this should be interesting!  I hope.   😕

Tuesday –  Again, we’re planning on my brother’s joining us, so we’re going to make Grilled Tilapia with Smoked Paprika and Parmesan Polenta.   We will probably also enjoy a salad from the garden along with it.  Yum!

Wednesday – We have an old, sad package of shrimp in the freezer that we needed to use up, and how better to use old shrimp than to marinate it.  We have this thing we do on the grill with shrimp, tequila and citrus. . . stay tuned for my Margarita Shrimp.  😀

Thursday – We have some Korean Beef in the freezer that needs eatin’!  😆

We will more than likely steam some rice to go with it, and maybe even pick some (more) salad.  It’s salad season, I guess.  😕

Friday – Pizza night!

It must be me.

Both Peeps and his mom left me behind in this place.

What did I do to cause this animosity?

Best of luck to Jane. I’m going to miss the crabby old lady.

Awww. . . Maz. 😥

If it makes you feel any better, from what I understand, you’re one of the few bright spots in that firm.

Hey – you should leave too! 😯

Your beans look a bit like moon rocks at this point, but if you say they’re in there, I’ll believe you!

Toy Lady - June 2, 2009

They ARE there, Anne, really! That’s just me being a crap photographer, that’s all. 😳

But at this rate, there should be actual leaves and everything any day now. Yup. Any day now.

3. Bobbie - June 2, 2009

We’ve got a pair of cardinals lurking about our house lately. The female just hangs back and you see her only if you look for her.
The male goes to each window that doesn’t have a screen and sits on the ledge looking in and pecking at the glass. For a while, he was waking my son up before 6am each morning. Not an easy task, as his mother can attest. Perhaps I should start pecking glass when it’s time for him to get up, since he just ignores everything else, including his alarm clock.

This has been going on for a few weeks now, I know that those window ledges can’t look good by now.

BTW – the little fudge ice cream cones — love ’em

Toy Lady - June 2, 2009

I don’t know how they do it, Bobbie – my son was the same way! Alarm clocks, banging on doors, pulling back the covers – nothing could penetrate. Until the weekend, then any little thing would have him wide awake! 🙄

It’s amazing, isn’t it, how bold those cardinals are! Ours did bring his mate along the other day – she’s a little more shy, though they were both out there on the deck for a while, pecking away happily at the sunflower seeds.

And I couldn’t resist the fudge – they were adorable! And it’s good fudge, too – nice and smooth and more creamy than sweet. 🙂
