Why This Isn’t Peeps October 21, 2011

I know that Peeps likes to (usually) post something on Fridays, and I’m not Peeps.

Sorry about that.

See, it’s like this.

While I’ve been sick and working late and generally slacking off at home, he’s kind of holding down the fort – he’s been doing most of the cooking and working on dog training (we’re working on “heel” now, and let me tell you – it’s HARD!) and pretty much keeping the home fires burning.

Plus, Wednesday was his birthday.  (But don’t tell him I told you.)

So anyway, do you ever watch Man vs. Food?  Peeps enjoys it, while I, well, I think it’s kind of obscene.  I mean, some guy challenges himself to make an absolute pig of himself – he tries to shovel in enough food to feed an entire family.

But maybe it’s a guy thing, I don’t know.

So anyway, Peeps likes to record the show and watch it when I’m not home.

It’s better than porn.

I guess.

ANYWAY.

This week’s episode was recorded a couple of months ago RIGHT HERE IN ROCHESTER.

How cool is that?

They visited Nick Tahou’s, a place we’ve never heard of, and a place we have heard of but never visited, Sticky Lips BBQ.

And, while I’d gladly try any one of these local joints (they all seemed to make a big hairy deal out of our “hot sauce”),  I’m not so impressed by the random race-car driver trying to eat what amounts to 5 pounds of meat – plus fries – in half an hour.

But still – if they made a girl-size of that sandwich, I’d probably try it.

So the reason this is me, and not Peeps, is that he coerced me into watching the food porn, and he’s finishing dinner, and I’m posting this.

Makes sense, right?

It is a guy thing; I love that damn show.

It’s sort of like watching a train wreck – you know you should just turn away, but for some reason you don’t.

And for what it’s worth, I’m not really thrilled with the episodes were he has to eat “The World’s Biggest…..” I like watching him try to down the spicy food, but I did love the oyster challenge.

But I love seeing the other places he visits before the challenge. To me, that’s the best part of the show.

It’s like those hot dog-eating contests. I mean WHO DOES THAT?

But yeah, I like the cool joints he visits too. Plus, he is like a big, goofy teddy bear. 😉

Well, not a show that I would watch but the trade off and “sharing” is always a good thing. I am just glad a road trip is not ON this weekend I don’t think.

Hopefully next week things will get back to normal (if you can tell me what that is) and you are well and cooking in tandem once again with Jar eating up the scraps and my Kitty watching from the window sill. I like “normal.”

Aw, Judy, normal would be great, wouldn’t it? The road trips are out for me for a while, I’m afraid – I just can’t take the extra time from work right now. It’s crazy how busy we’ve been lately.

Looks like Peeps is on the road next weekend, though.

mmm food porn… i can survive off of that stuff! I hope peeps had a great bday!

I have watched quite a few episodes of man vs. food and i really like the first part where they show the GOOD food, but im not into the challenge part, it drives me bonkers. I am totally in love with diners drive ins and dives though, that show is so bad for me to watch lol

Nickoshi, it’s so good to see you! You know, every time I see any bit of either of those shows, I start making plans in my mind. . . I wonder if we could work a trip to this place or that place into a vacation.
